PsychLing

A comprehensive theoretical framework for analyzing human psychology in the form-factor of writing

Overview: Psycholinguistics.org, or PsychLing, provides a system of definitions, methods, examples, and tools in order to analyze the psychological aspects of a given text. Despite the capabilities of written language, oftentimes it comes to pass that meaning is either lost or distorted upon interpretation. This increase in subjectivity makes it difficult to asses an author's intentions or mentality. Accordingly, the principles of Psycholinguistic Mechanics provide a system for increasing objectivity, or interpretation accuracy. The framework provides clear definitions, a theoretical basis, and robust methods usable by anyone, for all languages, all writing systems, and at all points in human history.

Progress: PsychLing is currently in the alpha phase of development. This means that the website is currently being worked on. Before releasing our theoretical framework, we decided to populate the website with various kinds of information. As of September 2023, this includes three directories: the PsychLing MLI, PsychLing Glossary, and PsychLing Library. All these contents, and others forthcoming, will serve as a comprehensive literature review. This seems to us necessary to do before releasing our own framework. When we inevitably challenge certain time-honored beliefs about psycholinguistics, we should wish to demonstrate that we have taken into account those ideas put forth by prior investigators.

About: The PsychLing website and its content is governed by the OMNIKA Foundation, an American 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity whose mission is to organize, digitize, and make freely available all the world's mythological contents. PsychLing is a CRS-sponsored project that was started in 2023 by Boban Dedović, a psycholinguist and technologist (read more).
